Tomi Kolapo 8I Marcus Jordan moved to New York from Kansas, thanks to divorce and a job offer. He loves football .There he meets Charlie Popovich, a former NFL linebacker who gives him 'extra' training in a nearby park. At first, Marcus doesn't question it, as he's loving the attention and learning more about the game.( learns the pop) Plus he's trying to get acceptance from his new team and doesn't have time to think about the oddities that start niggling to the forefront of his brain. Sure, Charlie's retired, but why does he have so much time on his hands? And why does he insist on calling Marcus 'Mac'? And why does he seem to forget things so easily? Some people may catch on pretty quickly as to what's wrong with Charlie, but I don't think Korman's trying to keep the disease a secret, as part of the plot is Marcus learning more about Alzheimer's, and how to deal with his new-found friend and family. This is one of those sports stories that is well rounded: there's a lot of football, but also a lot of Marcus's home life, school life (including girls and parties) and, of course, Charlie's troubles. 7/10
Emily Sa. F7F King George I found this story very sad but also well writen. When Marcus Jordan moved to New York he met Charlie, a NFL veteran suffering with Alzheimer disease. I personally know someone who has the disease and it is really sad what happens to these innocent people. Anyway, Marcus becomes one of the best players of his new football team and hangs out with Charlie even though he doesn't even know who he is.I rate this book 9.5/10. This story was too sad to vote 100% because books are supposed to be nice happy endings unlike this book. Well writen with a good plot. If you read 5 books, make this book is one of them. Definitely worth staying up late to finish.
Meaghan F7F When Marcus Jordan moves from Kansas to New York he meets Charlie Popovich in five alarm park. The two then beacme "freinds." Charlie an NHL veteran believes he is a teenager again because he is suffering from an Alzheimers disease. He relives all his teenage memories with Marcus, "Mac", his best friend. I rate this book an 8 out of 10.
Talia F7F i was reading this book and i thought it would be alot more football than the story but i was wrong. when marcus moves to new york he met Charlie (who was a former NFL linebacker) at a park and they became friends, or sort of. charlie trains marcus until he is the best on his school team, but i found it was a bit sad considering he had Alzheimer disease. overall i loved this book. i rated it 8/10
Gordan Korman is by far my favourite author and he didn't let me down once again. In this book a boy named Marcus moves to a new town in the middle of the summer where he works hard practising his football to make his high school team little does he know that the man that he practises with is the great Charlie Popovich and learns alote from him. At school Marcus makes the team but disagrees with Troy Popovich about just about everthing this book is really good and I rate it 9/10 stars. Nathan Berry 7I
Caitlin Davidson 7b in this book Marcus Jordan is practicing in 3 alarm park to get on his new schools football team when all of a sudden a middle aged man came and caught the ball he had just thrown, he then introduces himself as charlie Popovich. Marcus makes it on the football team where he is instantly hated by the QB troy popovich. later Marcus is arrested many times and he finds out that charlie has Alzheimer's disease in the end of this book charlie falls off a stadium wall and dies. I rate this book 9/10.
Natasha H 8A Marcus Jordan is forced to move from New York to kansas thanks to parents divorce and his moms job. He loves football and practices in tree alarm park by himslef since he hasnt had the chance to meet anyone yet. there he meets a middle age man that starts to meet him at the park and they practice together. without knowing it, marcus is practicing with "the king of pop" charlie popovich. charlie is very good at tackling and so he starts to teach marcus about it and marcus lewarns to love the pop just like charlie. after practicing with charlie he starts to get better and get accepted by hhis team which he had been striving for. charlie is an od character though adn keeps calling people by the wrong names such as calling marcus mac. plus he can just walk out of a store without paying for anything. marcus wants to get to the bottom of it and when he does he understands why charlies kids dont like to talk about their dad and alwasy treat him like a little kid. i would rate this book 7.5/10
Kiara Julien F8I This is the first book I read by Gordon Korman, and I admit it was pretty good. I was getting bored about halfway through because nothing would happen, then it got interesting. When Marcus found out about Charlie's illness, everything seemed to get better and better. But the beginning was just the same thing over and over again! The ending was a shocker! I did not expect that to happen! 7/10

I liked that it was about football.
Although it got kinda boring at the end When it was just talking about Alzheimers disease.
