I liked how a non-fiction topic was written in a fiction format. it was easier to follow along and understand and enjoy. Henry Bibb's life was a difficult one being sent out to work for other whites even though he himself looked white but since his father was black there was no changing his fate. he was abused and shunned and given almost no respect. It was the most depressing when he finds love and is given a child but he tries so ever hard to pay his way out of slavery from the man who owns him. and even more sad when his owner agrees with some conditions he is cheated because his mother dies. He does though escape and swears to come back for hi family but is betrayed several times and never sees his wife and child again :(

This book was about a guy named Henry Bibb. He was a slave in the late 1800s who worked for many people in his life. This book was a biography of his painful life and how awful the slave trade was in the USA. All that he did for his entire life was to work so he could pay for his owners needs. Finally he escaped from slavery just to come back to find his wife and child just to be caught again. I rate this book 8/10.

I like reading this book a lot because even though its a fictional story a bout a boy named Henry Bibb, it gives you real information about a real situation that happened. it was kind sad at parts though but over all it was a great book. i rated it 7/10

I liked "My name is Henry Bibb" a lot. It was a very interesting (but short) read about a boy named Henry Bibb, who was a slave at a plantatio, where he was abused by the plantation owner. This book really opened my eyes to the appalling facts of slavery, such as how he and his mother were owned by a Harriet when she was just a baby, how his brother's father was the plantation owner and how captured slaves were treated. The saddest part of the book was when he had to leave his wife and child to escape to freedom, but never saw them again. Thatmust have been extremely difficult for him. All in all, I give his book a 7.5/10.

i would rate this book a 7/10. i thought it was nice that a fiction book was written about something non-fiction. This book is about a boy growing up as a slave. him, his mother and his growing amount of brothers live on the plantation doing various jobs for the master when they are old enough. henry after causing several problems got hired to a couple other slave owners at different times and got abused and beaten. lateron in the book henry finds love and soon becomes a father. sadly his mother and brothers are still slaves and his mother is ill and needs help. henry doesnt want his son to be born into slavery so he tries to collect money so he can buy his family out. his mother ends up ding still a slave and he doesnt want that to happen to his family, so he decides to run away. he promises he willreturn to free his family. since he is betrayed many times he never can return so he nevr gets to see his wife or son again.

this book was VERY realist. it took place in the late 1800's and it was basically a biography of a slave boy named Henry Bibb. in those times if you were black, you were a slave. If you were white you owned slaves. this book explains how Henry was born a slave of david white and all the sorrow, excitement and work put into his life. he is sent away many times and finally meets love and right before they have a child, he decides he must run away and free his family. he does so successfully, but when he returns to save his family he is got and put back to work.In the end he loses his family, but is finally free, in canada i rate a 8.5 out of 10 because it was well written and a good story but very depressing, especially because it could of been a true story! :'(
