Tomi Kolapo 8I Eric Walters is always good at portraying real events in a sort of fictionalized format. Marcus the main character lives in a sort of camp where families who husbands, brothers, sisters etc... are in the war. We learn about PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder)because Marcus father comes back from war and is more than a little different. At first he finds it hard to believe his father needs help, and then when he does think he needs help, his father doesn't seem to oblige. 6/10
Natasha Haines 8A I would rate this book a 9/10. i thought it was really well written and i found it to be a nice read. Marcus actually went throught what a teen with a parent in afghanistan would go thorough. i like how eric walters made this so realistic. when his father came back veryone was very happy, but his father was suffering from PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder)and marcus is very worried about him. eventually at the end of the book marcus convinces him dad that he needs help and hid dad agrees.
Meaghan F7F I think Eric Walters did a really great job with displaying all the different feelings Marcus was experiencing. When Marcus's father returns home from serving in Afghanistan, Marcus finds his father acting strange. He assumes that it's just a phase, but things get worse for Marcus and his family. I rate this book a 8 out of 10.
Emily Sa. F7F King George Not knowing much about the war in Afghanistan this book about Marcus who's father came back from his first tour as a Special Forces officer. When he comes back he developed a common disorder called Post-Traumatic stress disorder where he can't break the habits he had in Afghanistan like the anger control and the reaction to loud noises. I found this book very sad and made me realize of what the families of these soldiers have to go through. I found this book shoud deserve a 9/10.
Halli F8F This book is about a boy named Marcus, and his family who live in a protected camp with other family’s that have relatives in war. Marcus' Dad is part of the Special Forces Army, fighting in Afghanistan. Marcus' family stress and worry about the man of the house day in day out. Finally, when his father comes home, Marcus notices that he is suffering PTSD. Will Marcus be able to help his father before he makes a terrible mistake? Read this book to find out. I really liked this book, it gave me a chance to learn about war (example; the machines), also I learned about the consequences that come with having family member in war, (example; PTSD, stress, worry). I liked how Eric Walters included a romantic part to this book (between Courtney and Marcus). I would rate this book a 9/10.
I liked this book a lot because it talked about the war going on in Afghanistan. It reminds us that there are soldiers dying for our country. It is also interesting about the fact that Marcus' dad needs help with the fact of being home safe. Near the end, Marcus' dad thinks he's fine but is actually aggresive with his children. At the end, Marcus' dad finally agrees about his needs as a soldier.
This book is one of many Eric Walters has written on real problems teens face nowadays. The main character of the book, Marcus is living on an army base, with his sister and mother, anxiously awaiting their father's return from Afghanistan. I thought that Eric Walters gave a very vivid description of just how it feels to live as Marcus did, dreading a phone call from the army informing you of a parent's death. Howevr, while Courtney O'Hearn, his romantic intrest isn't so lucky, Marcus is an his entire family is overjoyed when his father returns home. However, something is wrong. As we soon learn, his father is suffering from PSTD, which affects many post-war soldiers. Marcus has to find a way to convince his war-hardened father to seek help. overall, this was a good read. The only hing I didn't like was that thecharacters were pretty cliched. I give this book a 6/10.
Marcus a teenager boy lives on base in toronto, right now most of the soldiers are out fighting in Afganistan including Marcus's dad. Having gone threw months of no reponse or letter or even a e-mail from his dad he starts to get worried but he's dad prevails and comes home. He comes home with PTSD and is never himself. The book ends rfering that there whole family is going to get through thi and help him. I rate this book 8/10 stars
This book is about a father that comes home and how he and his family cope with it. I like d the book a lot but I found that it focused more on Marcus' relationships and thoughts than it did on the father. It was not exactly what I thought it would be but it was still good.
alicia denoon 8A I would rate this book 8/10. I'm very sad for people that have to wait for one of hteir parents to come back from the war. I couldn't even imagine bearing it. And then when they come back and act completely different. Seeing the life of a kid who lives on a military base with their friends parents dying every day is quite eye opening to how much we take for granted.

I rate this book 6 out of 10. I found this book a bit hard to get into, and a bit boring. It had a great plot-a boy who lives at a base with families that have relatives in the army. When Marcus's father is gone, he has lots of trouble without him. He has to be the man of the house and help out his family. His dad and his family keep in touch, but rarely. His dad is out of the base a lot with no cellphones so they don't talk that much. When he comes back to see his family, Marcus notices that he has changed. He has become paranoid and has ptsd. Marcus thinks he needs help but his father does not want to do so. He thinks the problems will go away but they don't. I found it a bit boring to read and that it why, as I said before, I give this book a rating of 6 out of 10.
